Looking for a fun and educational kids' Pokémon event? Come and learn to play Pokémon at Tako Games & Collectibles! Starting on December 21st, 2014, we will begin our Pokémon Academy that will be held every Saturday from 10:30-12:30pm. Pokémon Academy at Tako Games & Collectibles is a weekly in-store program where kids ages 7–13 can learn to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), battle with fellow trainers, trade cards, and sharpen their strategy skills. This Pokémon event for kids covers everything from deck-building and card battles to strategy lessons and fair trading sessions, all in a friendly and supportive environment.
What to Expect at Pokémon Academy
- Deck-Building & Battling: Kids learn how to build their own Pokémon card decks and put them to the test in friendly battles against fellow young trainers.
- Strategy & Skills: We teach essential Pokémon TCG strategies and tactics, helping beginners grasp the basics and guiding experienced players to level up their game.
- Card Trading Sessions: Participants practice fair trading of Pokémon cards under supervision, so they can safely expand their collection and learn good sportsmanship.
- Pokémon Knowledge: Each session introduces new Pokémon cards, game rules, and tips. Every child will deepen their understanding of the Pokémon TCG and improve their gameplay each week.
- Pokémon Passport: Every attendee receives a special Pokémon Passport to track their progress and earn awesome rewards (see details below).
- Fun & Friends: Most of all, it's about having fun! Kids will enjoy a welcoming atmosphere, make new friends who love Pokémon, and create lasting memories.
Pokémon Passport Rewards
Every Pokémon Academy participant gets their own Pokémon Passport to make the experience even more rewarding. After each battle they play (win or lose), we’ll stamp their passport. Once your child collects 4 stamps, they get to choose a free Pokémon card from our special binder to add to their collection. This passport system encourages kids to play more games, try their best, and enjoy friendly competition – everyone leaves feeling like a winner!

- Who: Kids ages 7–13 (beginners welcome – no prior cards or experience needed)
- Cost: FREE event (spots are limited; please sign up online each week to reserve a seat)
- Bring: Your favorite Pokémon deck and cards (if you have them). If not, no worries – we have extra decks and cards on hand for new players to use.
